5- What do I have to do to extend my residence permit?

You must apply to the competent authorities no later than 15 days after the expiration of the residence permit or the expiration date of the period.

6- How much does the government fee cost for the residence permit ?

The fees for the residence permit are determined by the Ministry of Finance and published in the official newspaper every New Year.

7- Can I get a residence permit without my passport?

Foreigners must present their valid passports in order to obtain a residence permit.

8- Can I change the purpose of issuing my residence permit?

Residence permits given to foreigners are arranged according to their arrival and stay in our country. Unless the residence status of foreigners changes, the purpose of residence cannot be changed. However, if the residence status of foreigners in the country changes, the purpose of residence can be changed.

9- Can I use my residence permit for entry and exit procedures?

If the residence permit is presented with a valid passport or a valid travel document instead of a passport, it grants foreigners the right to enter Turkey without a visa. Residence permits alone do not replace passports.

10- What should I do to stay in Turkey at the end of my visa period?

Foreigners can obtain a short-term residence permit up to 6 months at the end of visa or visa exemption in Turkey. Foreigners who want to stay longer than this period must obtain a long-term visa from our representatives abroad.

11- I have been living in Turkey for many years. Do I have to get a residence permit?

Your situation is not legal. You should apply to the competent authorities of your location as soon as possible, either in person or through a proxy.

12- Do I have to carry my residence permit with me?

The residence permit is a document that shows that foreigners stay in Turkey legally, and it must be shown to the authorized police and gendarmerie authorities when requested.

13- What are the points that I should pay attention to in my residence permit?

It is necessary to pay attention to whether the identity information on the residence permit and the information in the passport are the same.

14- What is the identity number for foreigners?

As per the law, foreigners who have obtained a residence permit for at least six months for any purpose in Turkey are assigned a “Foreigners’ Identity Number” by the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs. This number is used for foreigners to carry out their business and transactions in official institutions.

15-How can I get my foreign identity number? Where can I learn?

For foreigners to obtain an identity number, they must have a residence permit for at least six months. Foreigners have the opportunity to learn the identity numbers allocated to them from the internet or from the unit that issues a residence permit by filling in the necessary information from the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs  http://nvi.gov.tr/.

16- I want to buy real estate in Turkey, what should I do?

Foreigners who want to buy real estate in Turkey should apply to the Land Registry Directorate of the province where the real estate is located. You can obtain detailed information on this subject from us or from the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre.

17- I would like to invite a foreign national to Turkey. What do I need to do?

You have to send the invitation to the foreigner, which you can have it arranged by the notary public or have your attorney prepared. The person to whom you sent the invitation must apply for a visa to our foreign representative office in the country where they are located, together with this invitation.

18- What is the procedure that a foreigner who wants to work in our country should follow?
